I’m on the road again making presentations and signing Cat’s Cafe books! Monday, March 20, I’m off to Springfield to present a program about the Melotte Morse Stained Glass Studio museum-quality restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass in the Dana-Thomas House and to sign copies of Cat’s Cafe. It will be a good week! #FrankLloydWright, #DanaThomasHouse, #RallsMelotte, #EagleRockTrilogy, #VisitSpringfieldIllinois

Dana-Thomas House stained glass restoration, Monday program

The Monday presentation will be held in the Carnegie Room at the Lincoln Public Library starting at 6:00 pm. In 1982, Melotte Morse Stained Glass entered into the first phase of what turned out to be an eight-year project to restore to museum quality approximately 550 stained glass objects in the 1916 home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Susan Dana Lawrence. This is Wright’s largest and most extensive collection of stained glass. I will discuss why this collection represents a completely different approach to the use of stained glass at the time, heavily influenced by both the Arts & Crafts Movement, and Wright’s unique Prairie School approach to architectural design. The presentation will also show the techniques that had to be devised to approach this project and many examples of the completed works. #DanaThomasHouse, #MelotteMorseStainedGlass, #SpringfieldIllinois
The presentation is free and open to the public.

Cat’s Cafe book signing, Tuesday
The following day, I will be conducting a book signing over the noon hour at The Prairie Archives Antiquarian Bookstore on the south side of the square across from the Old State Capitol in Springfield. Having retired in late 2019, I spent the Covid years writing my first historical novel titled Cat’s Café, Eagle Rock Trilogy Book One. The book follows the development of the wild western town in 1879 called Eagle Rock and now known as the thriving metropolis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, including the transformation of the high Idaho desert into a thriving agricultural economic base for Idaho, and the progress of real people from the Springfield area who made significant contributions to the area over the following decades. #CatsCafe, #AmericanFrontier, #WildWest, #EagleRockTrilogy, #RallsMelotteAuthor
Hope to see you there!

I am currently scheduled to give presentations at the Museum of Idaho, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and the Idaho Museum of Natural History, Pocatello, Idaho, early in May. #MuseumofIdaho, #IdahoMuseumofNaturalHistory, #VisitIdaho,
